Scotland The Perfect Stage - 57

Themed Years S cotland’s Year of Young People 2018 provided a nationwide opportunity to celebrate the incredible talents and achievements of young people in Scotland. This was achieved through the creation of a high-impact events programme which put young people at the centre of its development and delivery. EventScotland worked in collaboration with the events and festivals sector to develop a year-long, public-facing celebratory programme supporting new, cultural and sporting events along with festivals and enhancements to existing events. The events programme for YOYP2018 through co-design, participation and performance provided thousands of young people with an amazing chance to work with professional event organisers, who felt the co-design approach had brought them into contact with new networks, new audiences and partners. As part of the overall YOYP2018 legacy, EventScotland has developed a range of materials which provide background insight for any event or festival looking to adopt future co-design opportunities across their event design and delivery. Free online resources include digital case studies from a selection of YOYP2018 supported events including The National Theatre of Scotland and V&A Dundee, as well as a comprehensive report which includes a range of experiences, reflections and valuable insights from both young people and event organisers.
